Fluent in New York parking

Read the curb. Skip the ticket.

New York has more than 440,000 parking signs and wrote 3.5 million curb tickets last year. ParkFluent reads the signs for you and colors every curb for your whole stay, so you know where to park before you start circling.

The ParkFluent map around 5th Avenue and 9th Street, Park Slope, on a weekday morning: curbs in green, blue, yellow and red

440,000+

signs. Zero time to read them.

You can't read a pole of five signs at 20 mph, and you shouldn't try. ParkFluent turns every one of them into a single color on the curb.

Left or right?

Know which way to turn.

Without it, you circle and hope. With it, you see the green curbs around you before you leave the intersection, and head straight for them.

$65

by 8 AM tomorrow.

Fine tonight, a street-cleaning ticket by morning. ParkFluent checks your whole stay, not just right now. Watch those curbs turn red.

$115

for the sign you never saw.

No standing, bus stops, rush-hour lanes. The priciest tickets come from rules you can't see from the driver's seat.

Green for your whole stay. Lock it and go.

    How it works

Three taps to a legal spot.

Green for your whole stay, blue with the meter, yellow if you come a bit later, red no, gray check the sign.

    3. 3

Tap a curb, read it in plain words

The actual rules for that stretch, in order, plus whether street cleaning is suspended.

    Where the colors come from

Built on the city's own records.

Every color starts from NYC DOT's parking sign records and NYC Open Data, checked against where tickets are actually written, with live street-cleaning status from NYC 311.

The data date is on every curb. And because a map can't see a sign that went up this morning, we'll always say it plainly: obey the posted signs.

    Questions

    Is it really free?

Yes. Every feature is free while we're new. If that ever changes, the basic map stays free.

    Which areas does it cover?

All five boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island.

Will it stop me from ever getting a ticket?

No app can promise that. ParkFluent shows what the city's sign records say for your whole stay and flags what you'd likely miss. Signs change, so always obey the posted signs.

    How accurate is it?

Each color comes from the city's sign records, checked against where tickets are actually written. When the records don't settle a curb, it shows gray instead of guessing.

Does it know when street cleaning is suspended?

Yes. It checks NYC 311's live alternate-side status, and can tell you the night before.

Can I use it while driving?

Set your destination before you go, or let a passenger work the map. Drive mode keeps the map following you, but keep your eyes on the road.

What do you do with my location?

It stays on your phone. We use it for the blue dot and to remember where you parked. We don't sell data. See the privacy policy for the details.
